About Sam

I am a hugely passionate about Workplace Health and Wellbeing, and ensuring people work in the right conditions to ensure that they, and the business they work in, thrives. I founded Gaia Workplace Wellbeing in 2022, after recognising that economic struggles in the UK meant many businesses were unable to fund permanent Health and Wellbeing roles.

I hold NEBOSH and MSc qualifications in Workplace Health and Wellbeing, and bring a wealth of experience along with my enthusiasm and passion. I have a particular focus on promoting positive mental health in the workplace and developing peer support, such as Trauma Risk Management (TRiM), Mental Health First Aid, and Sustaining Resilience at Work (StRaW).

Professionally, I’m recognised for promoting holistic workplace health and wellbeing, across public, private, and charitable sectors, and ensuring staff feel empowered to bring their whole selves to work. My personal experience of bereavement, mental health and hidden disabilities gives me what I believe is a unique insight into various aspects of workplace health and wellbeing, and reasonable adjustments. I am passionate about sharing my experiences and expertise to ensure good workplace health and wellbeing for all. As such, I love delivering training and workshops, as well as speaking on all things Workplace Health and Wellbeing, which I do regularly through my involvement in the Let’s Improve Workplace Wellbeing CIC.

 Some of my qualifications:

  • MSc in Workplace Health and Wellbeing
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Managing Health and Well-being in the Workplace
  • Mental Health and Suicide First Aider
  • Trauma Risk Management Practitioner, Manager, and Trainer
  • Sustaining Resilience at Work Practitioner, Manager, and Trainer
  • BTEC/NVQ Assessor – CAVA and IQA

Career Experience

I have an extensive working background, having been a Crime Scene Investigator in the UK and Bermuda, and worked for the Civil Service for the Immigration and Nationality Directorate, and Independent Office for Police Conduct, in both Learning and Development, and Health and Wellbeing roles.

Through working in the police, I gained a unique insight into working in potentially traumatic situations. While working for the Independent Office for Police Conduct, I designed and lead the implementation of a peer support system to ensure the risk of potentially traumatic events was mitigated.

In 2019, I was invited to speak on the peer support model as part of a cast study panel, at the Wellbeing @ Work Conference in London.
